It's exactly the same as jerking back on the hydro handle. You can make it operate smoothly but you have to let the throttle out very slowly. I just personally prefer the simpler operation of hit the gas & go, let up and it slows down gradually with no hydro braking action.
My guess is you could probably adjust the rollout on it, but I never really looked into it........
