Subject: Gen light on 4020 - solution by default

Central Kansas
Just to update those who replied to my post about my 12v conversion JD 4020's gen light not working. Called the guy who put in the conversion....he reply..."Oh yeah, the kit used a single wire alternator and it will not support a warning light....it won't work". Holy Crap!! What kind of 'conversion' is this. Indy...is this part of what you were talking about 12 v conversions?

Seems there is a good bit of controversy over single wire and three wire alternators. Single wire easy to connect, but is maybe just a battery charger and not the best to support lots of accessories? Regardless, can I wire in an idiot light or ammeter to this elecrical circuit to let me know when the alternator is taking a dump?
