I'm in Australia and we don't use VRS or CORS in my part of the world because the mobile phone network over here is crap unless you live in the major metropolitan centres. Radio's etc are proven and you have a very good idea where they will work and where they won't. CORS is slowly working it's way into the market from Victoria, but it doesn't suit every application or user just yet.
Coverage for VRS/CORS is far too dependant on the network carriers for us, as a dealer, to try and guarantee anything. Maybe the carriers told Trimble/Your Dealer that they have coverage in your area, but in reality don't? There would also have to be access to a CORS/VRS base station somewhere nearby to get the correction, whether you have carrier network coverage or not.
You could use this situation to your advantage as well - say you are interested, and would be happy to have the CORS/VRS base mounted on your shed roof for a heavily discounted price? | |
