I had a ez500 and ezsteer mounted in my ol 4840. And it worked great with the antenna on top of the cab.
So when I traded to a 8300 MFWD I mounted it the same place and it did not work good at all. It was always hunting the line. So I
mounted the antenna on the nose of the hood and now it works awesome.
