I would replace it with a 400 small block. They will have more power and burn less fuel, only problem is they are getting harder to find. Get one from a 70s chevy pickup with 4 bbl carb. You must use the 400 flywheel to keep it in balance. You need to use the alt and steering brackets off the 400 and change the exhaust pipes to fit but everything else is bolt on. Just thought of something else, if you have the 13" clutch you will need to take the balance weight from an auto tranny flex plate and weld it to the 13" flywheel, in the same location, because they never used a 13" clutch on the 400 (I have done this). The other choice would be to use the 12" clutch and flywheel from the pickup and have a disc made with the large spline center. TORQUE
