Subject: Question for Axial-Flow combine owners

Central Kansas
Have a "New to me" 2188 sitting in the shed ready to cut wheat in a few days. ALL of the safety screens are currently on the machine as per OSHA requirments. Case-IH mechaince told me I would have them off after a day of running it.....made reference to chaff and straw build-up between the screens and the combine sides. Is he right? If everyone only removes them for ease of servicing, I don't think that will bother me.....in fact, I think they look kinda nice! My 25 year old combine before this didn't have any saftey screens so have never had to deal with these. Your comments please.
