If you've ever hauled hay over the road, you could answer your own question real easy. If the choice is a load of 4ft or 5 ft, just about every body will haul the 4 ft first. Our CaseIH RBX 462, will but 1250lb in a bale of grass real easy, I've had some second cutting grass at over 1400 lbs. Alfalfa bales will weight 1400 lbs plus. If I was gonna be selling hay, and I am, then I'd go with a 4 ft wide baler. If I could, I'd skip the round baler alltogether and go to a 3x3 square.
