Princeton, MN
We use a Penta 11000. Its a twin screw vertical unit and is one tough unit. It has fed 3000 cows every day for over 3 years. It is actually getting wore to the point that we need to weld liners inside of it, and build up the outer ends of the screws. I guess they increased the thickness in the newer models they make to get a few more miles out of them. I have been nothing but impressed with this unit. The only big problems we have had were self inflicted. There is a plate on the tip of the screw that is supposed to lift the feed from the pinch points and the bolts wore off and it wedged under the screw and blew the planetary up. Now we keep our eye on the bolts a lot better. Other than that it does like to go through tires but that is to be expected due to the miles on asphalt and hard turns all day. With all vertical mixers you need to change oil on a regular basis in the planetary drive. Not sure where you are in Iowa, but Northland Farm Systems in Owatonna MN is our dealer. Good luck
