No, resistance checks are useless. The standard diagnosis charts have tests to checwiring and sometimes to simulate components with test equipment. Unfortunatly, a lot of diag cannot be donwe without a scan tool to interface with vehicle ecm to check crank rpm and other parameters.
Not being at work, i cannot really give you a good directon to go in with out service info.
