Subject: RE: Chopping Corn Heads

The positioning of the chopper on the Capello means that the first cut of the chopper happens while the stalk is in the grasp of the knife roller. That cut leaves a "mushroomed-out" stalk in the ground. Although we offer stalk stompers, a lot of our owners feel that they wouldn't need them to save tire damage. Since this type of cutting happens on all rows, it's not just the combine tires your saving, it's the grain cart and tractor, the semi, your pickup, etc.
