The middle of Maryland's Eastern Shore
We ran one for years. It was a 28foot model 730. Had the 130 bu. cart with it. Used it to plant peas, barley, and wheat. 6" spacing. We like the fact that when you finished planting the field their were no tracks left in the field. We ended up using a 4" closing wheel with a scraper on it. You are always pulling up moist dirt that sticks to the closing wheels. Had to mhave scrapers on ours to keep a somewhat even seed depth. Dad kept saying maybe we should switch to the 2" wheels so maybe we could do away with the scraper. We like the fact that you can run a stationary check and know your seeding rate before you start. The field men for the pea companys still did their digging to double check us just because they could not believe that we get use to the fact we had it calibrated before they got their.
