Subject: Re: Chopping Corn Heads

Here I am. We went from a 8 row 30" Geringhoff to a 612C Stalkmaster and couldn't be happier, not because the Hoff was bad but because the SM seems to be much simpler and I believe that it takes less power to run. To keep the Hoff running efficiently a person should check and reset the stationary knife every day, with the SM all you need to do is check the knives and rotate or replace as needed. As mentioned there are 3 grease zerks on each row of the Hoff. The SM does a much better job in wet and or downed corn and IMHO there is less head loss with the SM because everything is running slower.
