Yea, the storing in the Califonia bay is what would scare me. I would have some fresh batteries, pull full shut-off, crank until you have oil pressure on the guage, sit for a few minutes, start it. Unless you see fuel seepage, I doubt you will need to prime it at all.
Drain some fuel out to check for water, other wise leave what is in it, it is fine.
