Whoever farmed the ground previously had done quite a bit of fall tillage on it, probably about 1200 acres worth.  I would also guess that since the previous tenant was expecting to be farming it again this year, they may have even applied some fertilizer.  That is just speculation on my part.  Either way that was a lot of money.  The person sitting behind me at the sale claimed that the family that was having the legal disagreement was one of the winning bidders.  Not quite sure how that works.  I was just there to be nosey, but I never dreamed it would bring that much.
