Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | I've thought about stuff like this a lot lately. A very good customer of mine was involved in a situation where a handshake deal went bad. I've never seen anything like it and I cannot believe the landlord ended such a good deal he had on a promise of more $ elsewhere. Not sure a written contract is worth anything more than a handshake, but it is nice to have. Made it real clear to me that if I guy says he is going to do something, just do it. Whether it is leasing ground out or selling grain, it is a matter of what your word is worth.
A few extra cents/bushel or a couple more $/ton of hay is not worth it. A clear conscience is priceless.
