Has anyone backed out on a grain contract??

But the crook will probably get away with it. Verbal contracts are not legal/binding in real estate, have no idea about grain sales. Written contracts are only paper, even then you would have to go to court, get a judgement, then liens, etc. If it's 5,000 bu, at 60 c, that's around $3000 in damages for the elevator. They would have to go to small claims, takes time. They may just write it off.

We have a business in town, write 20-30 contracts per month with customers. People like this guy are a pain in the @@@, and we don't blink an eye when they take their business elsewhere. Life is too short.

From the farmers side, he better be ready to go to elevator B the rest of his time. He'd never set foot on my place again.
