Subject: Re: JD 1860 seed boots

The 2-piece 60-series seed boots were a poor design. The internal channel directed seeds onto the blade, which flung them out of the furrow. Also, the boot was ~ 3/4" farther forward than on the 50-series, which caused it to drag against the sidewall even harder. The 90-series fixed those problems (went back to the 50-series location and geometry) and fits on the 60-series opener. No way would I even consider putting 60-series boots back onto that drill.
