That is a common practice here. If the crop is weed free and will ripen evenly, hardly anyone swaths around here anymore. IF you have a little air in your bin, go for it. We can use roundup to kill weeds if we have to. As for the flex head, almost all straight heads around here are flex's. Most people lock them up to do grain, but not always. I have cut grain in flex mode and it works ok. I don't think there are any non flex heads sold in Ont anymore, but we do have a lot of soy beans.
