Shelby, MT | So are you a hold out or is that the norm to summer fallow everthing in your area? I don't get out your way much, actually never. I thought I was going to drive by your place on way to Glasgow but was all messed up and forgot Wolfpoint is after not before...anyways, I am not a notill policeman at all....but are you one of the few or one of the many, and I am not talking about the disc...I think everybody around has a disc in the same state as yours, our just isn't pretty like yours, some 22' or smaller POS JD tandem thing...I haven't seen run since 86 or 87 when the tansey got crazyer than what you are dealing with...My dad is having the big dilema over chem fallow this year...I think this is the 5th or 6th year is a row for us to be 100% chem fallow...in beginning I hated every minute of it...and still hate at least ever 30 sec of every minute...I went from a new 9270 and best plow ever built, woking honest 7am-5 or 6pm hrs to a 76 ford pu and pull type sprayer...and getting up at 4-5 to spray before wind with over priced spray.....of course I owned the pu and sprayer so paying rent and fuel and shovels on my dads tractor and equipement didn't pay, especially with 22-24oz of $10 roundup now..but he is up in arms and worked some this year because everything is getting harder and harder, the cheat grass is starting to brigade though etc, and gopher holes and badger holes......do I need to go on.....cound go to a $200k sprayer, heavy harrow, pre plant burndown, etc and life would be easier but are we making anymore money than when we all summer fallowed everything...right now I might be, might not be who knows...oh well its dinner time.... | |
