Cullom, Illinois | My experience has been to run the harrow about a week ahead of the planter. Use it most to work in chemicals. I agree with the other posts in that it won't dry the soil very deep. It does "fluff" the trash and allows the soil to dry on top. Running it just ahead of the planter creats wet and dry areas where the harrow sinks in and then rides over the dry area. Does an excellent job of leveling my subsoiled ground. It just a harrow, not a cure all for wet soil.
P.S. If run slow(5mph), they will outperform any rotary hoe ever made if you have crusty soils and a crop emergence problem. | |
