Central Kansas | Don't know how your 336 has been modified, but on my 346 original equipment included a heavy wire "Y"-shaped piece below the knotter stack that directed the travel of the twine up into the knotter, one on each side. They were notorious for wearing a groove and thus either retarding the free passage of twine from the ball to the knotter or fraying the twine to the point it would not tie correctly....and it could be intermittent. An old baler guy from Great Bend Kansas walked up to me at a farm sale just after I purchased a 346 twine baler and handed me a couple of hand-forged replacement guides that he had made after using these '36' model balers for 10 years or so. I had the same problem you have and fought it for a day or so and while scrounging in the on-baler tool box, saw those replacements he gave me. Installed one and BINGO!! problem solved. By that time I had made so many damn adjustments that I had to start over.
The 336 may be different, and yours may have been changed.....but you could give it a look. Wish I could describe it better....I use a 348 now and it does not have this piece. | |
