Nth New South Wales Australia
We had a KTA in a blue 1156 Versatile, last of series sent out to Australia. So far as the engine went we did 10,000 hrs and all I ever put into it was new injectors @ 7,000 hrs and a over-head done every 1,500 hrs. Pump was not stock setting from near new but had not been touched in 10k hrs. Turbo was original.
I know that we got a better run in the tractors than the guys running them in trucks as there was a lot out here in trucks on Road train work before the "big" hp smaller blocks came into vogue. Seems that excessive revs was/could be a downfall in the truck application as if one got away or was driven too hard dropped valves was normally the result. Biggest drawback now for them is cost of rebuilding is massive, most have been pulled and a C15/16 or Signature 600 put in its place for the same money as a rebuild.
Mike.
