| I had one of the early drill doctors that never did work for me. Have been told since that early ones were screwed up someway and company would make them right if you sent them in. I already gave mine away prior to that info.
In the mean time found this little jig for grinder use. If you take a little time to make the adjustments it will give a perfect point on the bit. I don't really use it now but mimic the motion it uses and with a few trys and eyeballing can usually get satisfactory results( I would say perfect but it "ain't"always so on the first try). Will try for the pics???
The pivot point to get the relief right is below the wingnut. I had an adjustable slotted track that kept it aligned square with the wheel but since doing most freehand its no longer attached to grinder. Pic 3 is a broken bit and 4,5,6 are that bit restored, sorry they are fuzzy. The last pic is trying to show 4 or so different degree/angle settings--59*--88*---68*--49*---and csk, what ever that is.
I call this my tutorial as its simple to get a good edge if I mimic the swing that it does rather than rolling the bit its self. I guess I never really knew how to sharpen one properly.
