West Tennessee | The 1 concave setting is pretty normal for us. Actually it's really at the limit of closed all the way. I might have run it on like 3 or 4 at times in the past when threshing was easier, which it's not this year. I don't normally run 900 on the cylinder speed either. Usually more like 800 or so but everything's different this year. I've seen very little 80bpa and nothing above that. 70-80bpa is about as good as it get's here. In reality I don't know that I've been on a farm that averaged overall 80bpa. I'm sure others here have but I'd say it's pretty rare. Our county's normal yield is probably in the upper 40's to 50bpa. The conditions here are VERY dry although there is some humidity in the air always. Our wheat got hit by the Easter freeze and that really messed things up (although not as bad as some nor as bad as we thought at the time). I'm having to run lots lower than normal to get the smaller heads. We're running a 930f and ground speed is anywhere from 2.8 to 3.8. Lots of rough ground here so our speed is usually limited by the ground conditions not the crop itself. | |
