if the fifth wheel slides put it all the way back like was mentioned... then turn it to see how much clearance you have and move it forward accordingly... I run my sliding wheel all the way back all the time... its kind of west coast style... I also run steer tires on my front drive axle and drives on the rear to get better fuel milage but still have some traction.... I find that when not considering legal axle loads and what the dot man has to say about it, its a matter of personal preference..... but i can assure you, clearance is never opinionated......
