Subject: Worn steering columns with autosteer

How badly does steering column wear/slop in the shaft and bushings affect the ez-steer/smartsteer type systems? If I grab the wheel with both hands and try to shake it side to side, it moves back and forth some because of wear in the linkage I presume. It is not rock solid like a new tractor would be. Will it be possible to get good results with a steering wheel driven system in a situation like this? Tractor has about 10K hours.
