Subject: RE: Anhydrous Ammonia - CEC

Little River, TX
10 lbs/ each mea/100g of CEC is a reasonable rule of thumb.

Possibly a little optimistic for some soils but understated for the soils I can see out my back window.

The nitrogen from an over application of 1,500 lbs/A of anhydrous ammonia, persisted through 7 full seasons in a grass hay meadow.

This on a soil with a measured 50 CEC.

Go 200 miles east of Here and nitrogen will run out in three weeks, regardless of the amount applied. Theirs is deep sand.

There is a universal truth hidden in there, somewhere.
