Subject: RE: Peanuts in Kansas

Mississippi

A consultant in west Texas who works a lot of peanuts told me last year that some of the peanut processors had made a push into Kansas because they missed booking enough potential tonnage elsewhere. They didn't raise prices sufficiently, and a lot of growers had already contracted cotton. I'm no expert, but I suspect that peanuts in Kansas might have some of the same favorable oleic characteristics as peanuts in west Texas.
