North Central Ohio, across the Corn belt !

Corn on corn - 2/4/2011 14:52

We actually have soil test taken quite often.  We know what kind of shape the soil is in.  We just seen to have poor luck w/ wheat.  In trying to narrow down (eliminate possible problems) some ideas have popped up.  Amount of N is one of them.
Again I thank everyone for their help!

Corn on corn

some old, long term rules of thumb for grasses, wheat, Alfalfa, tomatoes, and some vegetables That I have followed for 40 some years.

Seldom, If ever is an application of Insecticide Nor Fungicide needed if these fertility levels are maintained with adequate Copper levels.
1. for every l Lb of N applied apply 3 lbs of K
for every Lb of N .3 to .5 Lbs of S. is required applied.

2. Wheat Loves the luxury of feeding on soil residual P
Keep P at 25 Plus PPM or 50 to 100 Lbs per acre rate.

3. Zinc should be 4 PPM
4. Manganese should be 30 to 100 PPM  for High wheat Yields
5. Boron, 1 to 3 PPM.

these are guidelines ONLY, For HIGH Production, High Protein Production and Soil analysis reading can vary and Play a roll in Adjusting, adding to these suggestions.
