I don't have any GFI outlets. I put in a new range well several years ago with a new electric service from the REA at the time. REA provided their breaker box/meter socket on their pole. Local plumbing contractor trenched the wire in to the well for me. I wired up the 230V pump myself and installed a conventional 115V outlet in a weatherproof box inline on one leg under the double throw fuse box.

The outlet was intended for any power tools I wanted to use at the well site. Mainly for a stock tank heater if I wanted to put one in. The state electrical inspector had to come around an put the approval sticker on the electrical service. He was a nice guy and OK'd my work. Said I really should have a GFI outlet instead but he did not make an issue of it.

I used a submerged tank heater at this tank for one season with no problems. I had a 30 amp fuse in the side with the outlet and never any problem with the 1/2HP pump and heater on at the same time.
