Hay Wilson in TX

Subject: hayseed I looked at your Albert Lee seeds

Little River, TX
Monte, I am not overly impressed by the Albert Lee house seeds, but the WL 625 is interesting.

WL has several varieties that are not listed on the National Alfalfa & Forage Alliance's master listing. www.alfalfa.org

The WL 353 LH on their listing is fairly typical for leaf hopper varieties. For some reason the hopper reason or another most LH varieties have poor aphid resistance. Here hopper presence is every 15 or 20 years while aphids are an annual occurrence.
The WL 625 has HR resistance for the three major alfalfa aphids, plus my all important HR resistance to Both PRR & Aph root rot deseases. PLUS being a FD 9.
I just may contact my friends at WL.

Currently my alfalfa of choice is AmeriStand 802. I am looking at the America's Alfalfa Aribba II which is a FD 6. Normally a person would choose a less dormant variety, for here, but the more dormant varieties have less predation by the alfalfa weevil, HERE. A regional or local truth not necessarily a Universal Truth.

For now I will look at the Almost All Natural alfalfa and see what it looks like in a few years,

If I can see that I do not have to abandon my conventional customers for the organic market I will reconsider.
That still does not eliminate the idea of being lumped in with the scam artists I see down toward Austin & San Antonio.
