NE MO & W IL | I've got the same question, so anybody's experience would be welcomed. University of Missouri blew in 125 units of N (271 lbs of urea) in preplant strips at 8 inches and showed no problems. See attached study(edit, study too big, just posted material/methods slide). I was hoping to apply 100 units of N as urea and AMS in the strip and finish off with 15-20 gals of 32% UAN on the planter.
