Amherst WI | I use Iowa State's custom rate guide as a starting point. I then go up or down to my situation. I think they are basing it off of new equipment which I have very little of. My combine for example, paid $3900 5 years ago, I put about $1500 a year in it in wear parts, no way does it cost me $25-30 an acre to run it, but I could be getting that if I were doing custom work with it instead so I figure $25 even though it may be high in my situation. I would rather have the equipment costs $30 too high instead of too low. | |
