Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I use a workaround scheme to accomplish the line shifting somewhat like you mention.

When planting corn this year I often had the previous year's AB line which was pretty much parallel to the side where I wanted to start.

I would shift the AB line on my Insight by using the Remark Feature. This will shift the original AB line (and all subsequent lines) to your current location. When planting I am almost always in the Coverage Map mode. I ZOOM the screen and then PAN the map with the arrow keys so that I can see how my proposed new line compares with the field boundary. If the current Remarked AB line is satisfactory I start planting, otherwise I Remark the AB line again.

I guess I should be able to do this same think with the Move AB line by a certain amount LEFT or RIGHT. If the new location is not acceptable, I could try again.

I am finding that I should SAVE all my AB lines as they may be useful in the future. I decided to even rate them this year. I use words like GOOD or OK in the pattern name for future reference. I often have an AB line for each edge and plant out the odd rows toward the middle.

We have a customer who uses this approach: When planting the first pass he drives manually but watches the heading. By the time he gets to the end he as an "average heading" in mind. He uses the A+ type pattern, lines up the planter with a fair amount of overlap and sets the A+ heading from his mental average. This of course creates some overlap but this is probably inevitable anyway. With Seed Command these extra rows will be shut off anyway.
