Subject: Re: Grain drill population monitor accuracy

Central Nebraska
I am running a 350 monitor on my 1890 CCS drill. At least I think its a 350, but anyway. The seed tube monitors are only on the back rank tubes, so in order for it to read right you have to enter a "2" in the PA section. This way it doubles the population it is sensing in the one tube, therefore, 1 row on the monitor equals 2 rows on the drill. If it reads low then you have a problem on the back rank of that row, if it is high, then you have a problem with the front rank on that row. This PA number can be changed to get the monitor to read your actual population, for lack of a better term, this is how you "calibrate" it. I never change it I just figure it out after planting a few bags and go with it. I'm not sure if the 200 or the 250 monitors have this function.
