Ethridge, TN | Most of the problems I had with the STX tractors, and this was a 450 Quadtrac, was with the terminators on the harness, and hydraulic hoses. I really equate most of those problems to the vibration problem that these tractors have when roading them, and this one saw plenty of road time. Not sure this would be near as problematic on a wheel version.
Did have the tranny fail, couple of bearings, but I have a feeling that was due to its previous life on a pan. HD usually designates a "scraper tractor", and if it was anything but owner/operator, some the loose bolts that get to be behind the wheel can be plenty hard on them.
The big horse here is still red, STX485, but went wheeled this time. Had enough of the track version. | |
