Subject: RE: Excel Formula Help

West Union, Illinois

Mike Shimek - I want to write a formula that does the following: Cost of Job: 1st piece $100 2nd piece $125 3rd Piece $150, etc. So, a 4 piece job total would be, $550, and so on...........
I guess I'm not understanding what you are doing. My understanding was like Chris's, you were showing us a total project cost.  So the $75 setup plus $25 each was how it should go.  When you came up with a total of $550 for 4 I was lost.  if I am understanding it, each additional item is $25 higher in price?  So this is the exact opposite of a volume discount?

When I get time I'm going to have to scratch out Loren's formula to figure out why it works.  At first glance it made no sense to me at all.  But when I plugged it into a spreadsheet it came up with exactly the answer you wanted ... which I don't understand.

Unlike Loren when it came to math in school I was all bs ... and it wasn't capitalized.
