Subject: Looking at hay tedders . . . .

Pittstown, NJ
Well, a person helping me ran my little NH254 into a fencepost. This poor old thing has bounced over too many acres in its life and wasn't able to rake anymore, only ted. Rather than repair it, I think it's time to go to a four rotor tedder. Budget is limited. I've looked at a new Pequea at the local dealer and it is built like the USS New Jersey (and priced accordingly). AGCO-MF-Claas dealer has a new Claas on the lot, also out of my range. There is also a new Krone at another dealer, but haven't inquired on it. Only a few used units are around, one Deutz-Allis (old and worn out), a 3-year old Kuhn (nice but priced almost as much as a new one) and a New Holland 163. The last one I have not been able to look at yet. There are those First Choice tedders around new, but they look just like the AGCO New Idea that my friend has so many durability problems with.
