| I'm surprised that there's any commercial buildings still using PVC for air lines. Back when I put up my shop in 2000 I did some on-line research and found that OSHA did not approve PVC for air lines back then, or at least that was my interpitation Also, at that time there was a NAT poster, can't recall his name, that worked for a company that made PVC & he was very adamant about not using it for air lines.
After reading thru this thread again I thought I would do a ittle research on OSHA's current position on the subject. The following is not the official OSHA regulations, more of a summation if anyone cares to read it. Or simply google "OSHA regulation on using PVC for air line" and you will find a lot of information on the subject

Basically it says OSHA prohibits the use of PVC for compressed air above ground "unless it is encased in a sheath or conduit of ample strength, concealed or sufficienty guarded according to a professional consulting engineer approved specifications, to protect the pipe from corrosion or external damage"
While I realise most farm operations do not fall under OSHA guidelines I feel it prudent that this may be one that would be wise to follow. | |
