Aberdeen MS | I get $25 a 3X3X8 to a local dairy farmer. This year the rain really hammered me on the straw, 1.7 bales per acre. Most of the guys with wheat this year for their own straw ran the header in float.. just like beans. Shaved it right to the ground. I left 8" of stubble.
3 yrs ago I got 5.3 per acre. In 08 I grossed a bit over $750/ac on the wheat acres.
$100 is a bit strong of a average I guess. Maybe $80 would be closer. | |
