Oswald No-Till Farm Cleghorn, IA | I would not split rows if you don't have to in soybean stubble. The soybean tap root provides a great starting point for the row opener to run. Likelihood of sidewall compaction is less. In the middle, the previous traffic offers more potential for sidewall compaction problems esp. in corn which has a branching fiberous root system.
As for the soybean stubs, they are sharp and will do some damage to depth wheels if you don't have a residue managers in front of the planting unit. I would not plant corn w/o residue managers.
