Boyden, Iowa Sioux County

Also the cost of an Orthman is pretty substantial and not capable of moving to a strip till rig or side dress bar if I ever go that route.

I have the Orthman Tracker installed on a 3pt. 16 row JD planter and an Orthman 8 row 1tRIPr strip till rig.  There are a variety of brackets and arms for installation on different planter/toolbars.  As you indicated the precision is excellent with the Tracker coulters so close to the control point.  I'm strip tilling on contour and terraces using the Trimble TrueTracker to actively steer the tractor, planter and 1tRIPr.

If you are not strip tilling wouldn't the iGuide or Trimble's TrueGuide work for you on the planter?  Maybe your concerned about planting in wheel tracks?
