SEQ, Australia
The AutoSense/Potentiometer won't be in place on a Non-Guidance Ready machine. If it is a new CNH Accu-Guide or Intelli-Steer Ready machine, it will have a steering sensor in place - potentiometer on MFD tractors (MX/T80X0 and AutoSense on the 4EWD machines (STX Steiger/T90X0). If it is a Non Guidance Ready tractor that has had an aftermarket platform kit fitted, it could have an AutoSense or a potentiometer depending on how old the platform kit is. The potentiometer will generally have a linkage arm and threaded rod assembly to turn it when the tractor/wheel pivots

The AutoSense (little black box with a yellow Tuurck fitting on one end) is a better sensor for most operations except for doing very, very slow work (0.1km/hr etc) where the movement is so slow that the AutoSense gyro will have difficulty picking up a heading.

Potentiometers work fine on the majority of machines, but they are a moving part and will eventually wear out.
