Turn "Track Logging" on in the FMX. You can set the logging interval by time or distance. I would log by distance. Logging starts when you open an event. The log files are ArcView shp files so they will import into SMS. The files will be located in the folder with the same name as what you called the “Event” in the FMX.

One of the attributes in the log file will be the elevation, which is in meters. Import the log file into SMS as a spatial generic shp file. Just chose the elevation attribute to import. Make sure you change the units to “m” before you proceed with the import. After you display the map just turn the labels on for the elevation attribute. The elevation labels will be displayed in feet.
