Near-north Ontario, French River | I'll second the wool socks, and add that I wear two pair of socks. Wool on the outside and a lighter non-insulating pair of water proof socks inside. The water proofs are called " seal skins" and yes they are water proof. They are a bit pricey but for things like hunting where I know the chance of getting a soaker is higher its worth it to have dry warm feet. I've had instances where I stepped in water over the boot tops, I could feel the water squishing inside the boot, but my feet stayed dry and warm. The wool doesn't seem to loose its insulating value much even if its wet. |
