Oxford County, ON | No Mike, you've got it all wrong. The flashing lights and cones only apply to everyone ELSE, not them! They are far too important to be slowed down by a mere emergency vehicle...
My personal favourite is 'that guy' that goes around all the other cars that just pulled over for the oncoming fire truck just so he can save 4 seconds, but came the closest to an actual accident just a couple weeks ago. We were responding for a mutual aid structure fire and came to an intersection crossing a busy county road. I was driving and my passenger cleared his side of the intersection and we started to cross. He then starts yelling "Stop, STOP!" when we're almost halfway through. Apparently the minivan approaching from his side had slowed down to a near stop, then decided to floor it. Sheesh. Sorry for the rant, drivers seem to be getting stupider by the day. | |
