I would cross at Hannibal. The is a low viaduct near Paloma IL on 24 east of Quincy. Might want to take hwy 104 east of Quincy, past their airport and then go north on a blacktop to get back to 24. You might stay on 72 and go on up to Macomb and then on to Peoria from there. I'm sure others can give you better help.
