The only problem with those engines was their was a bulletin on the crankshafts I believe the years were 98 thru 2000 they had a bad batch of crankshafts and were failing I had the luck of breaking 2 in the same truck last one the engine only had 40000 miles on it the first one had 800000 if you have them run the serial number thru cat and see if it has ever been changed
