Subject: RE: what was his batting average?

Chebanse, IL.....

But, during that time, he batted against pitchers that had era's of less than 1.0. Now pitchers are happy with a 2.0.

It really doesn't matter, everyone knows & is sure he'll be in the Hall of Fame, it's just too bad they can't do that when the players are still alive. Can you imagine what a shot-in-the-arm that would've been for Ron & fans?? If you followed Ron much, you realized he'd quit "hoping" for the vote the last couple of years. He was satisfied just being at the ball field watching & working for the Cubs.

Another sad loser is going to be the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. They had no bigger spokesman in the midwest, that's for sure. Apparently he made many of the Cubs sponsors donate to the cause.
