South Central MN | Been awhile since worked on one of them. If I remember... With the knob one way should have vacuum on one line and with the knob the other way have vacuum on the other line. The diaphragm on the axle could be broken and not holding vacuum. Make sure you have good vacuum and good hoses coming from the engine . If you replace hoses it would take hose for vacuum. Could lines or the diaphragm on the axle be froze up with ice? Take that unit out of the axle and see if things are moving correctly or if some thing got bound up. There is a lever in that cover going inside the axle that shifts the gears. Make sure that will move from side to side. Block the wheels and have the drive shaft in neutral. I do believe that a electric one can be put in the axle and run wires and a switch up to the cab. Check with a salvage yard. | |
